David Craig has taken his Tesla Model S on numerous road trips that were on his bucket list over the years, but he recently discovered a new benefit: Camp Mode. Craig, a 71-year-old Southern California resident.
When I camp in my Tesla, I always know what I’m getting into, Craig added. “Motels are significantly riskier. On previous road trips, I’ve been in some truly bad motels.

Craig claimed that by sleeping in his Tesla, he can avoid the inconvenience of making reservations and regularly checking in and out of motels. He claimed that after repositioning the seat and grabbing a pillow, he just engages camp mode on the EV.
The function enables the vehicle to maintain optimum ventilation and a constant interior temperature. While the vehicle is in this mode, you can also stream video, turn on lights, or charge items. The function, which debuted in 2021, consumes a great deal less energy and even features a visual of a fire crackling. It is one of a plethora of specific Tesla features, along as Sentry Mode and Dog Mode. Even Tesla add-ons for camping are available from some businesses.
Craig claimed that he first purchased a mattress and a sleeping bag to use in the rear of the car, but that he later found it to be too cramped and wanted to sleep in the front seat instead, which he described as being “comfortable as a La-Z-Boy.”
