Bishan Singh Bedi Death Age: Bedi had played 77 international matches for India. During this
period, he had taken 273 wickets. Bedi is considered among the best spinners in Indian Test history. He
had won many matches for the country on his own. Former Indian cricketer Bishan Singh Bedi passed
away due to prolonged illness. He was 77 years old. He had undergone knee surgery some time ago.
After this, his condition continued to deteriorate and on 23 October, he said goodbye to the world. Bedi
played a total of 77 international matches for India. During this period, he had taken 273 wickets. Bedi is
considered among the best spinners in Indian Test history. He had won many matches for the country on
his own. Bishan Singh Bedi had four children. Angar Bedi, Gavas Inder Bedi, Neha Bedi and Gilinder
Bedi. Angad Bedi and his wife, Neha Dhupia, are well-known names in the Indian film industry.

Bishan Singh Was part of the famous Spinner Quartet

Bedi played Test cricket for India from 1966 to 1979. He has been a part of India’s famous spin quartet.
Apart from him, it featured Erapalli Prasanna, Srinivas Venkataraghavan, and Bhagwat Chandrashekhar.
Together, all four played 231 Tests and took 853 wickets. His best performance was against Australia
Bedi took seven wickets for 98 runs in an innings against Australia in the Kolkata Test in 1969–70. This
was his best performance in an innings. At the same time, if we talk about the match in 1977–78, a
total of 10 wickets were taken for 194 runs against Australia at Perth ground. He scored his only half century in Test against New Zealand in the Kanpur Test in 1976.

Also captained the Indian team

Bishan Singh Bedi also got a chance to captain the Indian team. He was entrusted with this
responsibility in 1976. Bedi was made the captain in place of great cricketer Mansoor Ali Khan Pataudi.
His first win as captain came against the West Indies at Port of Spain in the 1976 tour. After this, he was
removed from the captaincy after losing 3-1 in the Test series against England at home, 3-2 in the Test
series on the Australia tour and 2-0 in the Test series on the Pakistan tour. After him, Sunil Gavaskar became the
captain.
He took 266 wic’ets in 67 test matches for India. He achieved the feat of taking five wickets in an innings
15 times and once also took 10 wickets in a match. At the same time, he took seven wickets in 10 ODI
matches.
