iOS 17.4 Released With New Emoji, Support for Third-Party App Stores in the EU, More: Along with iPadOS 17.4, Apple also issued the iOS 17.4 update on Wednesday, March 6. This is the most recent OS version compatible with iPhone models. With this upgrade, Apple will now be able to support third-party app stores in the EU, where they are required to do so to comply with the new Digital Markets Act (DMA). Among other updates, iOS 17.4 adds a new emoji, modifies the battery interface on iPhone 15 models, adds transcripts to Apple podcasts, and enhances the Stolen Device Protection feature. Additionally, customers in the EU have the option to choose non-Apple Pay payment services with iOS 17.4. It also includes several patches and security fixes.

For compatible iPhone devices, the most recent software update, iOS 17.4, is now available for download. Major modifications to European iPhone models are brought about by the latest release of iOS. Users in EU nations can install apps from outside the Apple App Store and download an alternate app store with iOS 17.4. EU customers will also benefit from more in-app payment options and enhanced default app controls. Additionally, Safari has been improved, allowing users to select a different default browser. These EU amendments are mandated by the DMA.
iOS 17.4 on iPhones now comes with new emojis from Apple. The emoji keyboard now features new emoji, including the shaking heads, broken chain, phoenix, lime, and mushroom. Users can get automatic podcast transcriptions in English, Spanish, French, and German using the most recent iOS version.

The Stolen Device Protection function has been enhanced by the updates included in iOS 17.4. It gives customers the ability to have Siri read texts in any supported language by adding a new option. You may now add detected songs to your Apple Music Library, Playlists, and Apple Music Classic via music recognition.
Additionally, on iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Pro models, Battery Health in Settings now displays battery cycle count, manufacturing date, and first use. Call identification, business updates in messages, and Apple Cash virtual card numbers have all been improved in this version. The iOS 17.4 release also resolves a dual SIM issue and issues with contact images in Find My.
Go to Settings > General > Software Update> Install Now, then follow the on-screen instructions to download the iOS 17.4 update. It is recommended that users leave their iPhones plugged in until the update has finished installing.
