Opposition parties in Jammu and Kashmir will organize protests on October 10, according to a statement made by Farooq Abdullah.

Jammu, Oct. 03 (KIF): Leaders of various opposition parties convened a meeting chaired by National Conference president Farooq Abdullah, where it was decided to hold a peaceful protest against the present dispensation in Jammu next week.

Farooq Abdullah, while addressing the media after a 2-hour-long meeting, expressed concern over the prevailing situation in Jammu and Kashmir and across the country.

He said that several issues were discussed during the meeting, including the atmosphere created by the BJP-led government across the country.

“It was decided to hold a peaceful protest on October 10 to demand the restoration of constitutional rights for the people of Jammu and Kashmir,” he said.

The meeting was attended by Mehbooba Mufti, the president of the PDP, along with the party’s general secretary, Amreek.

Other attendees included Vikar Rasool Wani, the president of JKPCC; Raman Bhalla, the working president; MY Tarigami, a leader of CPI (M);

Gulchain Singh Charak, the chief of Dogra Sadar Sabha; and Manish Sahni, the president of Jammu and Kashmir Shiv Sena (UBT).

Other leaders included Awami National Conference senior vice president Muzaffar Shah, National Conference provincial president for Jammu Rattan Lal Gupta, party MP Hasnain Masoodi, Mission Statehood president Sunil Dimple, and former MP Sheikh Abdul Rehman.

The meeting also welcomed representatives from various other political parties, including the CPI and Akali. Dal (Amritsar), and the Internationalist Democratic Party.

1. From 02-10-2023, 1700 hrs., to 03-10-2023, 1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on
NH-44 due to the breakdown of 06 HMVs, 23 nomadic herds, and single-lane traffic at Mehar, Cafeteria, and Dalwas is between Nashri and the NAVYUG Tunnel.

2. HMV operators and owners are requested to desist from overloading. It is further requested that Vehicle owners double-check the fitness of their vehicles before undertaking a journey on the Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

3. HMVs with only 06 and 10 tires shall be allowed to ply through Dhar Road.

Traffic Plan and Advisory for October 4th, 2023:
Subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMV Passenger/Private Cars/HMVs/Load Carriers shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar National Highway (NH-44) viz. Jammu towards Srinagar, and vice versa. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline.

*SF Convoy Movement:-* Subject to fair weather and good road conditions. Security Force vehicles shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz. Jammu towards Srinagar and vice versa.

*SSG ROAD*

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement on Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari Roads shall be allowed from both sides, viz., Srinagar towards Kargil and vice versa. LMVs, followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Minamarg towards Srinagar from 0730 hrs. to 1100 hrs. Similarly, LMVs are followed by HMVs shall be allowed from Sonamarg towards Kargil from 1300 hrs to 1700 hrs. No vehicle shall be
allowed after cutoff timings.

*SFs Convoy, plying from Srinagar to Kargil, shall leave Srinagar at 0800 hrs. SFs Convoy plying from
Drass to Srinagar shall plan their movement in such a manner so that civil traffic doesn’t get disturbed.

Mughal Road:-

Subject to fair weather and good road conditions, vehicular movement on Mughal Road shall be allowed. from both sides, viz., Poonch towards Shopian and vice versa. These vehicles shall be allowed from Behramgalla (Buffliaz) and Herpora (Shopian) at 0600 hrs. up to 1800 hrs. No vehicle shall be allowed. after the cut of timings.
